Newsletter: Looking Ahead to 2025

Posted On: Thursday January 30, 2025

Huge progress was made in 2024 to bring our new hospital and campus closer to reality. 2025 is shaping up to be another jam-packed year. Here’s what you can expect:

New St. Paul’s Hospital

Now that we’ve built the hospital’s 11-storey structure, work on the interior and exterior continues.

  • Exterior completes: Terracotta panelling, windows, wooden entrance canopies, etc. will be installed.
  • Interior work:  Wiring, painting, wall protection installation continues. Large, integrated equipment and furniture will also start to be installed.
  • Landscaping: Work on the Wellness Walk, Traditional Medicine Garden, and other green spaces will begin.
  • Full-scale mock-ups: Select rooms will be built inside the new hospital. These rooms will have real walls, flooring and fixtures so teams can do a final check before the rest of the rooms are constructed.

Clinical Support & Research Centre (CSRC)

The state-of-the-art hub for innovation and research is greeting the new year with an exciting milestone – construction kick-off! This is thanks to the incredible work done in 2024 where we rapidly advanced through building design, including modern workspaces, research labs, the Innovation Centre, and a childcare facility.

  • Construction progress: Work on site has begun, with bulk excavation set to begin in July.
  • Ongoing design and engagement: Design work will continue into the summer.
  • Permit updates: Providence and the City of Vancouver are continuing to work together to issue the CSRC Development Permit and Building Permit Stage 1 by February 2025. ‘
